I have just come across the work of Joana Rosa Bragança, an artist and illustrator from Portugal. I am quite taken with her quirky and humourous illustrations.

The Wonderful World of Mister Finch

A while back I was shopping in York and found two wonderful stores called The Imaginarium and The Yorkshire Soap Co. If you are ever in the area you should definitely go, they sell some fantastic and very unique gifts. The shop designs are beautiful but the other really great thing about them is that they display the work of Mister Finch.
Mister Finch is a craftsman from Leeds with no formal training just a great natural talent who loves creating and sewing. He combines dusty pastel shades and antique detailing which then results in the most amazing textile creatures as shown below.

He layers up textures, dyes and inks with embroidered details.

Happy New Year!

Hello and Happy New Year, I must start by apologizing for the lack of posts towards the end of last year. From start to finish 2013 has unfortunately lived up to its bad reputation culminating in a rather grand and disastrous finale in November and December. I am sure there are many people who have also been affected by this bad weather and the tidal surges which are still going on as I type, so I wish them all the best. All in all I am quite happy to see the back of last year. I must say however, one of the truly lovely features of 2013 for me has been The Paper Parlour. Thank you to our loyal returning customers and to the many new patrons who have made it a wonderful year. We hope to keep finding new and exciting items and obviously we will still be keeping all of the firm favourites for you! Please keep checking in over the coming weeks to see all the new additions to The Paper Parlour. All the best for 2014 Continue reading

Into the woods...

fawn

I have just come across the wonderful work of Amy Hamilton. I am completely  smitten by her illustrations and especially her woodland creatures like this sweet fawn above.

Intothewoods

Above are a few of my favourite woodland inspired items we have in at the moment. Firstly we have the Cavallini Flora and Fauna Stamp Set, then You're a Fox Card and Evelina Journal  both by Rifle Paper Co. and finally the MT Masking Tape Encyclopedia/Animal Japanese Washi Tape. All these items are available now at The Paper Parlour.

PaulinaBartnik

Paulina Bartnik creates the most beautiful and detailed embroidered brooches. You van visit her Etsy shop cOnieco to buy these items but I would recommend you are quick as they are all unique and handmade so are sure to be snapped up quickly.

Spooky, Creepy, Beautiful Things...

In honour of the fast approaching Halloween festivities I felt compelled to share some spooky loves of mine.

AliGulec

Ali Gulec created these beautiful and decorative skulls above. They are inspired by 'Sugar Skulls' which are a part of Mexican offerings on The Day of the Dead. These skulls are a way of honouring deceased family and friends during this much loved festival.

PeterC

Peter Callesen's eerily beautiful paper angels are quite special. I love the detail involved in everything he does and the graceful images he creates with baby angels leaping from the paper and skeletons falling off the page. It must take great precision and patience to create these gems.

So finally, how can you resist the charm and sugary detail of these amazing Biscuiteers offerings pictured below! These truly are Sugar Skulls.  A friend recently bought me the Paris selection box for my birthday and they are just too beautiful to eat!

Biscuiteers

Well I am afraid this is as dark as I can go... yes not very dark at all. Perhaps this post is not exactly a spooky Halloween tribute but more of a celebratory spin on the day of the dead.
