The Paper Parlour Blog

You Are The Bees Knees!

Wakey wakey! Spring is most definitely in the air and it is time to come out of our Winter Hibernation. I see blue bells, blossom and daffodils everywhere! I actually saw my first bee of the year today, so with this in mind I think it only right that we spare a post for this glorious card below.  The Bees Knees card has the sweetest little verse on it and is one of our favourite new additions here at The Paper Parlour. The Enchanted Palace

This following post is not exactly related to stationary but then I hope this blog will show a mix of topics. If like me you love all things creative especially fairy tales then this may be of interest. I have been down to London and visited the Enchanted Palace exhibit at Kensington Palace. The whole exhibit is based around seven princesses who have lived at the palace. Each room had a different installation by various artists and designers such as Vivienne Westwood and Boudica. It was quite spooky and atmospheric and well worth the trip! I especially loved ‘The Room of a Sleeping Princess’ which had layers of mattresses piled up. Apparently as a child, Queen Victoria would sleep walk so they piled mattresses up to prevent her from getting  out of bed. Every morning they would find her back in bed but with messy hair and dirty feet caused by her travels in the night. Also in the room they had big paper puppet dolls and ballet slippers strewn across the floor. Continue reading

Katy & June

Katy & June specialise in Korean stationery & gift products. Korean stationary is highly regarded and I am a really big fan of a lot of stationary that is produced over there. The products I have on the site show a high quality of manufacturing, and the design and character development is brilliantly innovative. I personally like a product which has more going on inside than just on the front cover. The diary above is the Aurora Diary, it comes in a cute little card box and each page is illustrated. I love the attention to detail. Continue reading

Magic Soup

Mayo, Titta and Shaa are the three main characters who are depicted in the Magic Soup range. The vivid water colours create these ridiculously cute girls. We have notebooks, journals, and folders featuring these illustrations. Continue reading

Cavallini & Co.

Next up is Cavallini & Co. This is perhaps one of the best known brands on the site. The illustrations used have a vintage feel. They combine beauty and functionality. They can draw from well-loved piece of ephemera or from their vast archival collection for the perfect image. Plus when they splash a bit of glitter on I love them even more! Continue reading

Papaya Art

I thought it would be best to start off by introducing the different brands we have on the site. I will start with Papaya Art. In 2003 PAPAYA! was founded by Gina & Anahata Katkin in California. They are a mother and daughter team which initially started the brand using imagery from Anahata's hand made sketch books to create greetings cards. The brand has developed and expanded enormously to incorporate journals, address books, postcards, water bottles and wall art. I love that the artistic design is not limited to just the front page it carries right on through. I think the combination of trippy dreams and world traveller images are beautiful. The moment I saw the card with the slogan 'Eat Cake Bitches' across it I knew I had found something special. I hope you enjoy this amazing range  as much as I do! Please follow this link to view more items from Papaya! Continue reading
